Weight loss is the most common New Year’s resolution that people make, with about 38 percent of resolutions being weight related. Studies have shown, however, that only about 8 percent of New Year’s resolutions are actually kept. Over half of resolutions, in fact, die out within six months.
These statistics may be discouraging, but that doesn’t mean you should abandon the idea of losing weight completely. Taking a few key steps and knowing a few important things beforehand can increase your chances of maintaining a weight loss resolution significantly. Here are some resolution-keeping tips you should know before making that resolution to lose weight this year.
Start with a plan.
A goal without a plan is simply a wish. If you truly want to reach your fitness goals in 2017, it’s important to come up with a strategic plan to help you get there. Decide, for example, what types of meals you plan on cooking and how you plan on exercising throughout the week. Decide how you are going to deal with the temptation to skip a day of exercise or healthy eating. Write these things down as well to make them more concrete.
Be realistic.
As you develop your plan for losing weight, don’t forget to be realistic. After all, you aren’t going to transform into a completely different person the moment the clock strikes midnight. Outline a plan for yourself that you know you can commit to. blue, for example, makes for an excellent addition to any weight loss plan because you can use it while doing many of the things you already do on a daily basis (nap and watch TV, for example)
Try a new weight loss method.
If you’ve never had success losing weight in the past and are planning to follow the same weight loss methods this time around, you probably shouldn’t expect to see life shattering results. As the saying goes, insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Instead of letting your resolution go the way of 92 percent of resolutions this year, resolve to do something new in order to reach your weight loss goals.
We at blue international, for example, offer one weight loss method you probably haven’t tried: at-home fat freezing. Our fat freeze system lets you essentially freeze off excess fat cells, resulting in visible fat loss and cellulite reduction.
Talk about it.
Talking about your resolution to lose weight will help you hold yourself accountable for keeping your goals. Talk to others about your goals and ask them to touch base with you on your progress in the coming months.
