What we put in our body is beyond important. Our body is a machine, and when feeding it the best nutrients, the machine works not only better, but longer and more efficiently. But I get it, healthy foods can be boring, bland, and at times downright gross.
Thankfully, there are such things as fruit. Both delicious and nutrient packed, fruits are some of the ,oat wonderful things to put in your body to keep it running it’s best. Below are 5 health packed fruits that will make your body thank you over and over again!
Grapefruit
Grapefruits might not be the sweetest treats out there, but it is one of the healthiest citrus fruits out there. They have a wonderful source of vitamins and minerals, and also aids in weight loss and reduces insulin resistance. It also helps reduce body fat, supports prostate health, aids in digestion, and eases constipation. Grapefruits also reduces cholesterol levels and prevents kidney stones.
It can be juiced, garnished on salads or meats, or can be eaten raw if you like a little acidity and bitterness.
Avocado
Oh avocado, how I love thee. Avocados might not be sweet like almost every other fruit, but it is equally delicious and extremely beneficial to your health. They have a great source of heart-healthy fats, high in fiber and protein, a rich source of vitamin E, and is an excellent first fruit for babies. Avocados are a super fruit, containing many vitamin and minerals, and considered a perfect food due to it containing pretty much everything your body needs to keep going.
You can eat it with just about anything, but my favorite is to put a little salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper with just a little lemon juice on top.
Blueberries
Blueberries are packed with nutrients for such little things. They contain a wide range of micronutrients, including manganese, vitamin C, and vitamin K. These powerberries are also high in fiber and are known for their anti-inflammatory and cancer fighting chemicals. They also treat varicose veins and helps to treat hemorrhoids. Blueberries contain the highest antioxidant content of the most commonly consumed fruits, and helps the body protect against illness.
Put these little blue balls on top of yogurt with some oats for a delicious breakfast. Or just eat them as is and enjoy a wonderful snack.
Pomegranates
These fruits aren’t only delicious to eat, but pretty fun to crack open as well. These little juicy seeds pop right into your mouth for an excellent source of antioxidants as well as Vitamin C and K, great for immune system health. They also help reduce the risk of heart disease and has anti-cancer benefits. Pomegranates have an incredibly high number of antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation and prevent disease.
You can add the seeds to any breakfast meal. They are especially good on toast with other ingredients.
Apples
Now don’t go grab those yummy caramel apples thinking you’re eating healthy! Apples are packed with nutrients and sweetness all on its own. They contain a high amount of fiber, vitamin C, potassium, vitamin K, and some B vitamins. Their antioxidants promote heart health and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. Apples also improve digestion and metabolic health, as well as increased bone density.
You can eat these alone for a sweet treat, or eat with peanut butter for that extra protein snack.
